The purpose of this topic is to get to know each other a little better. I'm sure many of us here lead interesting lives outside the realm of fantasy. So that being said I'll start.
I usually find myself engulfed in the subjects of sociology and history particularly when human cruelty is concerned. Lately the focus of my research has been on Imperial Russia, the Soviet Union, communism, the personality cult of leaders, the Armenian genocide, and the domestic relations of the peoples of the Caucasus. To a much lesser extent I like to read about US history, religion, medieval societies, and torture.
Psychology is also another major interest to me as I take pleasure in figuring people out and helping them achieve their goals. This interest in psychology probably explains my preoccupation with cruelty (No I'm not a psychopath. ) since I want to understand the reasons of cruelty and perhaps find ways to rectify/prevent it. Also I have a slight obsession with categorizing people into personality types using the analytical tool of Myers-Briggs Typology Indicator. (Don't be surprised if I ever ask you to take a test or if I try to 'type' your characters. )
I think I mentioned elsewhere that I'm also a lingophile. I've taken three years of Japanese in high school, I'm self-teaching myself Russian, and I am trying to enroll right at this very moment into a Georgian language course.
When taking into account the lesser intellectual activities I enjoy drawing, screwing around on my keyboard, goofing off on the interwebs, and playing video games.
Your turn, please don't be shy! I encourage asking questions and friendly commentary. Most of all I encourage discussion.
