Character
Full name: Mekor Karun
Nickname: -----
Age: 26
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Occupation: Soldier
Birthplace: Northern Doven
Personality: Calloused, jaded, sarcastic, and cold upon first inspection, but after he familiarizes himself with someone he's never short for a jest and he's quite good-natured. As for his temper, forget short fused: he doesn't even HAVE a fuse. He's extremely hard to set off, however.
Description
Height: 5’8
Weight: 150
Hair Color/Style/Texture: Thick, close-cropped, nut brown hair
Eye Color/Shape: Average shaped, sand gold eyes. (A rarity, but not at all unheard of.)
Identifying Marks: Two thin, parallel scars across his left upper arm, claw marks on his left shoulder blade, and a necklace with an elvish pendant on it. (Supposedly it gives luck and wards off evil.)
Skin Tone: Tanned
Build: Thick-shouldered with strong arms and a narrow waist.
Clothing: Usually travel stained leather boots, dark trousers, and a loose-fitting, dark grey shirt with the sleeves rolled up to the elbow or something thereabouts.
Equipment: A double-edged sword with a wide, straight blade with a single broad groove running down its length, the pommel of which is a short spike for close-quarters defense. He also has a curved, single-edged dagger which he keeps wickedly sharp.
Skills: More than just fair with a sword, Mekor once held off three foes simultaneously. He's capable in hand-to-hand combat, but in the way of archery he's only had any practice at hunting, at which he gains moderate success.
Handiness: Mekor is right-handed
Family
Mother: Arla Karun
Father: Sanidra Karun
Siblings: Arbidra Karun (brother) and an unnamed sister that died in infancy
Background:
Mekor was born a year after his brother, Arbidra. He always had to try harder to be the bigger and stronger of the two, as nature had decided to give his brother an extra year on him. Mekor's family wasn't much; his father was the only cobbler in the small town of Durad, and his mother was the daughter of a travelling merchant. Seeking to get away from the constant poking and prodding and sewing of leather that had occupied his childhood, Mekor joined the Alaglaiseian army as soon as he could. He was quickly pushed into a company of men travelling south to deal with the ever-encroaching orc threat. He soon discovered that he had a knack for battlefield heroics, and he seldom looked back to that small town of Durad. During an orcish ambush, Mekor rallied his fellow soldiers and won the day: he was quickly put in charge of a small force of men within the company. The orcish threat blunted by multiple crushing Alaglaiseian victories, Mekor continued to campaign against threats all across Alaglaiseia, retaining his rank as a small-time commander. During a raid on a renegade mage's fortress, shadow cats were released into the halls, one of which gave Mekor the scars across his left shoulder blade. Along his campaign path, the young commander acquired an elvish pendant that supposedly warded off evil and gave luck to the wearer. More intrigued by the intricate design of the pendant than by any supposed magical qualities, Mekor wears it with pride almost everywhere he goes.
